Hurricane L.1547.
Trials with 2-pitch metal aircsrew

In accordance with instructions received in Air Ministry letter reference above, dated 25th October 1938, brief performance and handling trials have been made on the above aeroplane fitted with a 2 pitch metal airscrew and ejector exhausts during the period 7th to 23rd November 1938.

Alterations to aeroplane.

The following alterations were made consequent upon fitting the 2-pitch airscrew:

(a) In order to reduce the forward movement of the centre of gravity, 50lbs of ballast was carried in the fuselage, distant 19 ft. 10 ins from the datum point.
In addition there was 4lbs of lead in each horn of the elevator.
(b) The setting of the fixed trimmers on the elevators was altered from 6 deg up to the neutral position, i.e. in line with the elevators.
